Product Description

Corten steel plate is a steel that Weather resistant structural steel. The anticorrosive properties of weather resistant steel are better than those of other structural steels in many applications. The steel is self-protecting: the rust layer on the surface becomes a tight oxide layer that slows down the progress of corrosion.
 

Corten steel is a type of steel that develops a protective layer of rust when exposed to atmospheric conditions.

It means the life span of corten steel is 10 times longer than mild steel and 3-4 times longer than pre-painted steel.

 Corten steel is one of the weathering steels (that is, atmospheric corrosion-resistant steels). The main technical support for the use of weather-resistant steel plates as facade materials is that weather-resistant steel has superior corrosion resistance compared with ordinary steel. Under natural climate, the corrosion and thinning of steel can reach 0,1~1мм в диаметре in 5 years, or in special and man-made harsh environments, the thinning can be more serious. By adding weather-resistant elements such as copper, chromium, and nickel to weather-resistant steel, the steel material forms an oxide layer between the rust layer and the matrix that is about 50 to 100 мкм dense and has good adhesion to the base metal. This special dense oxide layer has a stable and uniform natural rust-red color.
